Kingston University collaborated with M&S to brief a sustainable outwear project. All elements of this jacket are either from preloved items, dead-stock or donated fabrics. To achieve a jacket with presence and draped silhouette I chose to develop a menswear pattern.
THE PROCESS
The final jacket is made of two separate functioning jackets. Styled with the collar facing up, both jackets have a collar and lapel with contrasting under collar. The long straps came from an original drape using an M&S trench coat sleeve flipped, resulting in the wrist adjuster loops to be draped over the shoulder.
